Lupe Buten M.S., CCC-SLP/TSSLD-BE
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist

I am a licensed speech-language pathologist, with experience treating the pediatric population with various speech and language difficulties. My years of experience working with children who have articulation difficulties, autism, play and communication issues, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices, and bilingual kids (American Sign Language and Spanish) inform my mindful holistic approach to therapy. After working with children in teletherapy and at a local preschool, I founded Speak Through Play to continue to specialize in serving the birth to 5 population.

Throughout my career, I have realized the importance of early detection and intervention. The sooner you start therapy the better the outcome. I have found that children make the most progress when the family is involved in their treatment.

I work with the child and family so learning continues day after day. I am a firm believer that every child deserves to be heard in his or her own way.

I have earned my bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Early Childhood Education from Lehman College and earned my master's degree in Speech Pathology from LIU-Brooklyn. Since, I have upheld my ASHA certification, New York and Connecticut State License for Speech-Language Pathology. I have pursued several continuing education courses in speech sound disorders, including training in Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for children with severe childhood apraxia of speech and early language development, including courses from Carol Westby, as well as Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).

Fun facts! My husband an I have two sons! In the spring, you'll find us biking or at a Yankee game and in the fall, you'll find us at the orchards picking apples. We've lived in the city, but Westchester is where we call home. In my free time I enjoy bike riding, shopping and hiking. I live by Bad Bunny and Hamilton soundtracks.
